There are over 8 million abandoned buildings in Japan. Most are considered a burden and often it can be difficult to locate an owner. At the mercy of the elements, they are sinking and dissolving, decaying and crumbling as the links to a previous life fade with them. Documenting them I am considering the painterly attributes they contain, the forms in their construction and the raw materials they present while containing the desire to retrieve the doors, windows, roof tiles or beams.
